Auramy is a photo gallery, storage cleanup, sharing and backup app for iPhone and iPad (iOS 26 or later) and Android phones (Android 8 or later).

Getting started

Do I need a Google account?

No. The gallery, search, storage breakdown, cleanup, duplicate finder, nearby sharing, widgets and shortcuts all work with no account at all, entirely on your phone. Connecting Google Drive is optional and adds backup, restore, Free Up Space and sharing by link.

Why does Auramy ask for access to all my photos?

To show your whole library and to find duplicates and clutter across all of it — a scan can only see what you've allowed. Limited access works too: Auramy then shows only the photos you selected. You can change this at any time in your phone's settings, under Apps › Auramy.

Where is my Hidden album? (iPhone)

iOS does not let any other app see the Photos "Hidden" album, so Auramy can't show it. The Hidden screen explains this and offers to open Photos instead.

Sharing

How do I send photos to someone next to me?

Both of you open Share in Auramy. The receiver taps Receive and the sender taps Send and picks the photos. On the same Wi-Fi the phones find each other by themselves; otherwise one phone shows a code and the other scans it. The receiving phone always has to accept — and when you pair without scanning, both phones show the same code, so only accept if they match.

Does the other person need Auramy?

For nearby sharing, yes — both phones need Auramy, iPhone or Android. For a link, no: it opens in any browser, where the originals can be saved.

There's no Wi-Fi around. Will it still work?

Yes. Scanning the code connects the two phones directly, with no internet needed. When an Android phone is involved, it may open a short-lived Wi-Fi network of its own; an iPhone then asks to join it — tap Join. That network is used only for this transfer, and your phone goes back to its own network afterwards. On Android 12 and earlier, the system also requires Location to be turned on for this; Auramy never reads your location.

Are photos compressed when I share them?

No. The original files travel as they are, with their date and camera details. Live Photos and Motion Photos are converted so they stay "live" on the other kind of phone. Location is removed before sending while Remove Location When Sharing is on in Settings, which it is by default.

How do links work?

Sharing by link uses your own Google Drive, so the sender needs Drive connected. Auramy uploads the photos to an Auramy Shares folder, kept apart from your backup, and anyone with the link can download the originals for 7 days. You can stop a link earlier under My Links; the files are then deleted from your Drive. The person receiving it needs no account: they paste it into Open a Link in Auramy, or open it in a browser.

Where do received photos go?

Into your photo library, like any other photo, and into the Shared with You category of Auramy's gallery. If you back up, they get their own folder in Drive.

Cleaning up

Where do deleted photos go?

Deleting always goes through the system, which asks you to confirm. On iPhone, items land in Photos › Recently Deleted; on Android 11 and later, in the trash. Either way they stay recoverable for 30 days, which is also when the space is actually freed. Android 8, 9 and 10 have no trash, so deleting there is permanent — check your selection first.

Auramy says I can only delete 10 items at a time

That's the free version. Without Auramy Pro, each delete removes up to 10 items. Pro lifts the limit and enables Select All. Scanning, and seeing exactly how much space you could recover, is free and unlimited.

What does Deep Clean remove?

Deep Clean finds exact duplicates (the best copy is kept), similar and burst shots (one is kept), blurry photos, accidental shots such as pocket photos, black frames and clips under two seconds, screenshots you're done with — old one-time codes and past tickets — and heavy RAW files. Each group is its own row with its count and size, and you can open a row to untick anything you want to keep. RAW files are never ticked for you. Favourites are never touched. Exact duplicates are free to clear; the rest is part of Pro.

Does Free Up Space delete anything from my Google Drive?

No. It removes the copy on your phone of files your Drive already holds, and leaves the Drive copies exactly as they are. Only files with a verified original-quality copy in Drive are offered.

What does Compress Videos do to my video?

It re-encodes the video at 1080p, saves that as your video — keeping the original's date and location — and deletes the original the usual way, so it stays recoverable for 30 days where your phone has a trash. If a re-encode doesn't come out meaningfully smaller, Auramy throws it away and keeps your original untouched. Favourites, slow-motion clips and anything already at 1080p or below are never offered.

Backup and restore

Where do my photos go when I back up?

Into a folder named Auramy in your own Google Drive. There is no Auramy server and I have no access to your files. Auramy asks only for the drive.file permission, which lets it see nothing in your Drive except the files it created itself.

My backup seems stuck

Check these in order:

• Wi-Fi Only is on by default. A personal hotspot or a metered Wi-Fi counts as mobile data, so backup waits; Settings says why and offers Back Up Anyway.
• Large uploads continue in the background and resume where they left off, but the system decides when background work runs. Keeping the app open on Wi-Fi and power is the fastest way through a big first backup.
• Open Upload Queue in Settings to see what's still pending.
• On iPhone, force-quitting the app stops scheduled background work until you open it again.

Is the free backup lower quality?

Yes, deliberately. Without Pro, photos are uploaded at 2048 px and videos at 1080p — full-screen quality on any phone, at a fraction of the size — with the capture date, camera and location kept. With Pro, the file your camera wrote goes up untouched. If you buy Pro later, Settings offers to re-upload what was saved at standard quality; nothing re-uploads on its own.

I got a new phone — how do I get my photos back?

Install Auramy, connect the same Google account, then use Settings › Restore from Drive. It downloads what's in your backup but missing from the phone. Restoring is never limited by Auramy Pro — your files are your files.

What does Pro add?

• Deep Clean in one tap, beyond exact duplicates
• Unlimited bulk delete, including Select All
• Video compression, and slimming Live Photos and Motion Photos
• Original-quality backup — ProRAW, 48 MP and 4K reach Drive untouched
• Automatic background backup, and Drive folders by category, year and month
• The Private Vault, storage alerts, the Neon, Titanium, Emerald and Aurora themes, and alternate app icons

Everything else is free and stays free — including nearby sharing, links, the app lock, backing up with Backup Now, and restoring from Drive.

I paid, but Pro isn't showing

Tap Restore Purchases — it's on the Pro card in Settings and on the purchase screen. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple Account or Google account you bought with. Purchases belong to that store: Pro bought on the App Store doesn't carry over to Android, or the other way round.

How do I cancel the yearly subscription?

On iPhone: open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions › Auramy Pro. On Android: open Google Play, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the renewal; you keep Pro until the period you've paid for ends. The lifetime purchase has nothing to cancel.

My subscription lapsed. Am I locked out of anything?

No. Turning a Pro feature off is never locked, and nothing you've already backed up is taken away. Photos in the Private Vault stay there, and you can always move them back out.

Refunds

Purchases go through Apple or Google, so refunds do too: on iPhone at reportaproblem.apple.com, on Android through Google Play's order history. Message me as well if something didn't work as promised — I'd rather fix it.

Privacy and security

What does Auramy send to you, the developer?

Nothing. There are no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no accounts. Full details are in the privacy policy.

I forgot my Private Vault PIN

The vault's photos are encrypted with a key that only your PIN can produce, so a forgotten PIN can't be recovered — not by the app, and not by me. Forgot PIN? on the PIN screen resets the vault, which erases everything in it. Deleting the app erases the vault too, so move photos out before you uninstall.

I turned on the app lock and now I can't get in

The lock uses Face ID, Touch ID, your fingerprint or your device passcode — the same things that unlock your phone. If biometrics fail, tap unlock again and use your passcode.

Does sharing a photo reveal where it was taken?

Not by default. Auramy removes GPS location from photos and videos you share out of the app. You can turn that off in Settings if you want location to travel with the file. Backups to your own Drive keep the original file.
